Activities

There’s something for everyone at Shine On!
In addition to all the music on the Pavilion Stage, below are more activities you can participate in.

Suspension Bridge

Suspension Bridge

Explore the beautiful Stable Studios property. Take a hike through on the nature trail through the forest and find the unique, hand built suspension bridge. You can cross over it during the day but note that for safety, the bridge is closed from dusk to dawn. Visit the FAQ page for a map of the property.

pond

Fishing Pond

There is a pond perfect for fishing if you’re into that sort of thing. It will be a little too cold to swim, but bring your fishing pole and see what you can catch! You may have some luck catching bass, bluegill, catfish, or croppie! Or just take a nice walk around the pond. It is lovely and peaceful.

Scavenger Hunt

Kids Space Station

Kids are encouraged to check out the Space Station in the pavilion. There will be fun activities available including NASA coloring pages and a nature scavenger hunt with a prize for completion! (As a reminder, minors must be accompanied by a parent at all times.)

Cupcake Walk

Everyone is welcome to participate in the Shine On Music Fest Cupcake Walk. In this game, every participant wins a cupcake! If you’ve ever done a cakewalk, it will be like that only with the prize being a cupcake of your choice (instead of a full cake). The Cupcake Walk will be similar to musical chairs but more chill. Don’t worry, we will explain the rules. It’s an easy family-friendly game where everyone wins!

The Cupcake Walk will take place on Sunday, April 7th at 1:30 p.m. in the pavilion. Big thank you again to our in-kind sponsor, Sweet Dreams Bakery, for their generous donation of cupcakes!

Sweet Dreams Bakery
Dark Side of Oz

Popcorn & Movie Night

On Sunday, April 7th after the music ends, Shine On Music Fest will have a free popcorn and movie night. The Dark Side of Oz (or Dark Side of the Rainbow) will be projected on screens in the pavilion. Classic film, The Wizard of Oz and the Pink Floyd, Dark Side of The Moon will play simultaneously and the audio/visual synchronicities will amaze you!

Charlie Savage, a journalist in Indiana was the first to popularize the Wizard Of Oz/Dark Side Of The Moon mirroring phenomenon. He says, “There are a number of lyrical overlaps that are striking – like Time’s “no one told you when to run” as the film cuts to Dorothy running away from home, and Us And Theme’s “black… and blue” when the Wicked Witch Of The West appears in black, confronting Dorothy in her blue dress.”

Community Brunch

Monday, April 8th from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. there will be a Community Brunch. Every ticket holder is welcome to join and this meal is provided for those who attend on Monday before the solar eclipse. If you want to bring a dish, we would love to have you chip in. There will be donuts, fruit, and scrambled eggs available. Plus, thanks to an in-kind donation by Tailgaters BBQ, there will be biscuits and gravy while supplies last! There will also be coffee, juice, and water available.

Please consider donating to our onsite tip jar or to the festival’s Venmo to help cover costs of food for the Community Brunch. Donations are appreciated but not required.

drum circle

Mr. Miller’s Hippy Dippy Drum Circle

On Monday, April 8th before the eclipse, join Mr. Miller and friends in the pavilion as he leads a Drum Circle. Bring your own drum or use one of the drums Mr. Miller provides. He has a variety of hand drums to share and everyone is welcome to join in. Let’s connect with the rhythms of the universe for some chill vibes before the eclipse.

Note: The drum circle will end at 1 p.m. The drums will be put away at that time as The Shine On Music Fest 2024 Total Solar Eclipse Viewing Party begins!

2024 Total Solar Eclipse Viewing Party!

NASA’s live broadcast of the total solar eclipse will be projected on screens in the pavilion from 1-5 p.m. for everyone to follow along with. We will watch together as the 2024 “total solar eclipse moves across North America on April 8, 2024, traveling through Mexico, across the United States from Texas to Maine, and out across Canada’s Atlantic coast. Tune in for live views from across the path, expert commentary, live demos, and more.”

Thanks to our GOLD-level sponsor, Branson Gilliland Excavating, everyone gets a pair of Total Solar Eclipse Viewing Glasses with their tickets! Let’s enjoy the eclipse together and make lasting memories at Shine On!

Community Campfire

Community Campfire

There will be a shared community campfire going each night of the festival. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join along in our nightly campfire jams. Bring your instrument. Share your tunes, sing, dance, and play along!
